Laying a Strong Foundation in Literacy
At the heart of Chalkboard’s ARAL Program reading curriculum is a commitment to proven, research-based methods, ensuring every student builds a strong foundation in literacy. Our approach is deeply rooted in two internationally recognized methodologies: the Science of Reading from the United States and Systematic Synthetic Phonics from the United Kingdom.
These methods have consistently shown exceptional results in transforming non-readers into confident, fluent readers.
Why Phonics?
Phonics is the cornerstone of our curriculum because it is the most effective way to teach reading, especially for young learners and non-readers. By helping children understand the relationship between letters and sounds through engaging lessons, we unlock the key to decoding words and developing reading fluency. Phonics instruction allows students to read new words on their own, fostering independence and a love for reading.
